HP to launch Windows 8 tablet in 2012

Hewlett-Packard Co Chief Executive Officer Meg Whitman said the company will release a tablet computer based on Microsoft Corp's new version of its Windows software before the end of the year.

Speaking at a Wall Street Journal conference in Menlo Park, California, Whitman said the initial tablet will be based on Intel Corp's technology. It's "not clear" when Windows 8, the update to Microsoft's operating system, will be released for devices running chips based on ARM Holdings Plc technology, she said. Microsoft hasn't given an official release date for Windows 8.

Whitman also said Hewlett-Packard is investing in developing talented executives, focusing on organic growth, and getting back to "The HP Way," company's original principles.

The next CEO is likely to come from within Hewlett-Packard, Whitman said.

"I will not feel like I've done a good job if my successor is not an internal choice," Whitman said.

Hewlett-Packard hired from inside its walls until 1999, when it recruited Carly Fiorina from Lucent Technologies. All three succeeding CEOs, Mark Hurd, Leo Apotheker and Whitman herself, were also outside hires.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 680 GT-P6800 Price in India features specification and reviews | 7.7 inch Android Tablet

Samsung Galaxy Tab 680 reviews
Samsung has quietly introduced its Galaxy tab 7.7 GT-P6800 in India as Galaxy Tab 680 for Rs 34,900. India based online retailer Flipkart has listed the Galaxy Tab 680 (WiFi+3G) for Rs 33,571. It is the fourth tablet of Samsung to be launched in India with Google's Android 3.2 Honeycomb operating system.

It has already produced 10.1in, 8.9in and 7in sized tablets, along with the 5.3in, part smartphone, part tablet Galaxy Note. The Galaxy Tab 7.7 adds a fifth screen size to the mix, attempting to strike a balance between portability and functionality.

Although 7.7-inch may initially seem like an odd screen size, the ultra slim and light form factor of the Galaxy Tab 7.7 makes it feel logical. The tablet is just 7.9mm thick and weighs only 335g, making it one of the thinnest and lightest devices in its class. As a comparison to other smaller tablets on the market, the Galaxy Tab 7.7 is both thinner and lighter than the BlackBerry PlayBook, the Acer Iconia A200, and the Toshiba Tablet AT1S0.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 is instantly recognisable thanks to an attractive brushed metal finish on the back and a thin, silver bezel around the edges. Every aspect of the Galaxy Tab 7.7's design screams quality — from the well positioned power and volume keys that provide great tactility, to the gloss silver edging surrounding the headphone jack.

A 5100mAh battery powers the Galaxy Tab 7.7 and it was good for about nine hours of use during our testing. If you don't pick up the Galaxy Tab every five minutes, the battery should last a few days: it didn't really show significant drain unless the screen was constantly on.

Connectivity features include 3G HSPA+ 21Mbps, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n with WiFi Direct, Bluetooth v3.0, USB 2.0 Host and A-GPS.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 680 Features and Specification:
  • Dimensions:
  • Network: 3G
  • Touchscreen Android Tablet
  • OS: Android 3.2 OS
  • Processor: 1.4GHz dual core processor
  • Sensors: Accelerometer, Proximity Sensor, Digital compass
  • Display: 7.7-inch Super AMLOED Full Touchscreen display
  • 1280 x 800 pixels screen resolution

Apple reportedly is testing mini-iPad

iPad 2 im Pariser Apple Store: Kleineres Modell für den Massenmarkt?

In March, the iPad will be 3, it is said in various media, and apparently Apple is already working on another model of his tablets. The "Wall Street Journal" reported that the California electronics company is currently engaged with Asian suppliers to try a smaller version of the popular computer flat.

The baby is iPad with a diagonal of about 8 inches to be slightly smaller than the previous model with its 9.7-inch screen. The resolution remains anonymous sources, but unchanged. In fact, the project befinde still in a relatively early stage and could be terminated at any time. Apple has, as usual, refused to comment. With the introduction of a small iPad would be Apple's previous strategy, to stay out of the range of low-cost tablet to give up. According to analysts, but was just this market segment is of great interest. This was evident from several manufacturers, which met with their respective devices to a broad public interest. How much of this interest is marked, showing the success of the Samsung with its approximately 5.3 inches measured Galaxy note or Amazon, with its 7-inch Kindle Fire did. Samsung has just announced another 7-inch tablet, including the Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) .
The Taiwanese analyst Diana Wu represents the "WSJ" the opinion that many people would rather have a tablet that is smaller than the current iPad. Its equipment is good, but in the large, rapidly growing markets like China and India is not the technology but the price significantly.
Little is the euphoric reaction to the IT blog TechCrunch out. Neither the upcoming iPad 3 have a smaller version able to trigger enthusiasm there. Finally, sell the iPad 2, all functions that need an average user. The iPad 3 estimates TechCrunch as a stopgap until the introduction of a generation of devices with truly "revolutionary" features one.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1N is launched in Germany|

The Galaxy Tab 10.1N from Samsung is currently ships with Android 3.2, but Samsung has been an update to Android 4.x (Ice Cream Sandwich) announced in early 2012. With the update could improve the performance and battery life of the Galaxy Tab 10.1N. Samsung sold in most markets, instead of the Galaxy, the Galaxy Tab Tab 10.1N 10.1, since Samsung has lost a design patent dispute with Apple. The iPad-2-producers accused Samsung, in terms of design to steal or plagiarize evident from the iPad - the competent court of law in this regard was Apple. Samsung has then the design of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 amended and brought it as Galaxy Tab 10.1N new on the market. In addition to some design changes has the 10.1N also a slightly different display.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1N - chassis and handling:
The front of the Tablet PC is dominated by a large 10.1-inch display. In the present version 10.1N, Samsung has the rear chassis pulled up around the rim of the glass plate on the front and left and right are two small speakers positioned. The visible image is included with black frame, these are above and below approximately 18 mm, right and left about 15 millimeters wide. Nearly centered in the upper frame has a 2-megapixel camera is built, next you can see the light sensor - both components are protected by the stable glass cover over the display.

On the left and the right side of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 Samsung has positioned no sensors or controls. Down in the frame of the multifunction jack, the connector can be attached either connected to the power supply, power supply, you can use the USB connector to connect to a PC and data cartridge as a desktop device. In addition, the socket for a variety of docking stations is necessary. The small hole next to the connector houses a small microphone.

Top of the frame sits on the left of the power switch, located next to the volume rocker. On the right side of the upper edge of the 3.5-inch jack for connecting headphones sitting or headsets. In our model, the 3G card slot for the SIM card is also positioned above the Galaxy Tab 10.1N. On the back of the Tablet PC has in addition a 3-megapixel camera, including LED lighting.

The processing of the Galaxy Tab 10.1N appropriate and functional. Samsung, however, omitted to aluminum components, as they come, for example, the iPad 2 is used. Far from the technical challenges, which is a metal chassis gives the Apple solution but a slightly higher level of quality. In the processing of the Galaxy Tab 10.1N, there are no complaints, all transitions are rounded, the gap dimensions fit perfectly and even the display bezel is a success. Although the various buttons are also made of plastic, but offer good feedback and not to seem cheap. To bring it to the point: The Galaxy Tab by Samsung 10.1N indeed used a high-end chassis for everyday use, the design is functional and fashionable enough. Unfortunately, the Galaxy Tab 10.1N has no slot for a memory card.

The Galaxy Tab by Samsung 10.1N is around 570 grams compared to other tablets is relatively easy, it fits comfortably in the hand and is also with only one hand to hold it. The device has the dimensions 257 x 175 x 8.6 mm.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1N - the hardware:
The heart of the Galaxy Tab 10.1N is a Tegra-2-SoC from Nvidia. The chipset has two CPU cores with a clock speed of 1 GHz. As the GPU is an ultra-low power (ULP) GeForce GPU from Nvidia with a clock speed of 333 MHz. In practice, you can use it to enjoy the most of today's high-end games for smartphones and tablets, but in a few weeks devices with significantly more powerful graphics chips hit the market - then you find yourself with the Galaxy Tab 10.1N in the middle of the graphics tablet again. The memory of the Galaxy Tab has 1 GB sized perfectly well. As you can free feeding but no memory card as an extension, you'd better know before you buy, whether you need a version with 16 GB, 32 GB or 64 GB of disk space. Even for larger music collections and some videos on the 16 GB unit should suffice in most cases - certainly a cost issue. Who wants to buy cheap, but it also wants to use SD cards, place in an accessory adapter set for USB and SD cards. It costs about 25 €. In view of the coming generation, you should wait for more space, perhaps a few more months until the Galaxy Tab 10.1N falls in the price - and that it is for sure.

Samsung built the Galaxy Tab 10.1N a 10.1-inch display with a resolution of 1,280 x 800 pixels. The pixel density of 149 ppi compared to smartphones rather mediocre, with tablet standards, the pixel density is still in order. However, in March, first tablets with higher resolution and much higher pixel density of Samsung and Apple are expected. The display is based on IPS technology, which provides in comparison to conventional TN panels better viewing angle and greater color spaces, Samsung used the Galaxy Tab but a super PLS display, this enhanced IPS panels offer better viewing angles and higher brightness. In practice, the display on the screen is quite good, even if by coming on a white background, a slight color cast - but this is not a shortcoming in everyday work and falls are rare. The display is mirrored on the other hand very well, at least for dark backgrounds in conjunction with unhappy positioned overhead lighting. Direct sunlight falling on the display, you must raise the brightness of the Galaxy Tab 10.1N to the maximum setting, so you can still see most of the image content. Our measurements have a maximum illuminance of up to 300 candelas result, the viewing angles are good to very good - very late color distortions are seen. Also the contrast of the displays are well built. Bottom line, the display of the Galaxy Tab 10.1N one of the better on the current tablet market. According to the data can be with the Galaxy Tab and HD content playback, HDMI output does not, however, the Galaxy Tab. Here you can also help out with an adapter for around 30 €.

The Galaxy Tab 10.1N has two cameras, a 2-megapixel version at the front for video calling and a 3-megapixel camera on the back. With adequate lighting, the images can be seen from the main camera perfectly. Although lacking in comparison to models with more megapixels a few details, but it creates the Samsung camera quite well in capturing the colors lifelike and vibrant. Basically, however, as with almost all Tablet cameras for snapshots well suited as a main camera for consuming more shots than worthy of discussion. Video in 720p resolution are acceptable, but it comes with fast movements to some jerkiness. In low light, the image becomes noticeably noisier. From the App start to the first screen pass in the rule (and in good lighting) for 3 seconds. An image from the app is done with about 2 seconds.

The remaining features of the Galaxy Tab includes Bluetooth 3.0, WiFi, HSPA + at 21 MBit / s and a 7000 mAh battery. In our tests we were able to achieve with the Galaxy Tab 10.1N for dynamic pressure by surfing, video games and a duration of between 5 and 6 hours. Videos will only play, the running time increases to 8 to 9 hours. For a tablet of the present generation of happy medium, upcoming tablets will likely perform much better here.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1N - the software:
On the Samsung Tablet Android 3.x is currently installed, an update to Android 4.x was already confirmed officially. Samsung refines the Google operating system with its own TouchWiz interface. This is very similar to the original Google interface, and offers some Samsung's own applications. In principle, nothing you will not get into derivatives via the official Android Market.

Basically, the Galaxy Tab 10.1N is suitable, including Android tablet for all relevant tasks, however, one notices from the device or to the slightly dusty hardware. Do not get us wrong, we cry here at a high level. Thus, although the performance is when scrolling through large Web pages quite suitable for everyday use, compared to the brand-new chipset, the Galaxy Tab 10.1N jerky but now and then to himself - you notice it, but the operation is thus not limited in practice. In addition, the wiggle effect appears in landscape mode less frequently than in portrait view to appear. With Samsung Android 4.x could still bring some improvements to the game. TouchWiz expanded the way the standard controls that are always positioned at the bottom left of screen, a screen capture tool. Even a Quick Launch bar for a quick-start app has added Samsung.
